DIFFeRENT CHALLENGES-SAME emotions
Regardless of the duration of the challenge (one or more days) and the length of the route chosen, the Tour des Stations promises to link exceptional resorts in a grandiose environment with an extraordinary "vertical drop per km"! The event distinguishes itself by proposing a unique challenge in the world: "To measure yourself in one day against the height difference of Everest". However, everyone has the choice to climb "their own summit" among the six proposed routes, with, as with any climb, guaranteed thrills at the start and tears of joy at the finish.

Night flight
Whether you're aiming for victory or simply trying to get past the time barriers at each Reboost Station, riding at night is a must. By the light of a powerful headlamp and - for some - a headlamp, cyclists experience an entirely different set of sensations.
Calm is mixed with the fear of seeing a hole or an animal in the road. The cold forces you to cover up well. Emotions create an endorphin that keeps us going, despite fatigue, despite the slope, despite rain or wind. It's a kind of magic.
Every second takes something away, as the poet, reporter and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once said. Every second will remain forever engraved in the memories of Ultimate participants. First or last, 555 or 1000, all will treasure these precious moments.

Reboost Station
Life in the Reboost Stations is punctuated by rituals specific to each individual. However, a common thread runs through them all.
- Reassuring loved ones that you're safe for the night;
- Stretching out to loosen up joints that have been severely strained after hours in the saddle on severe slopes;
- Regaining your strength. Either in anticipation of a forthcoming departure, or before a few hours of life-saving sleep;
- Put on clean clothes (note that David always starts with the left sock, a very good ritual).
At the Reboost Stations, it's also time to look back on the day. To chat with that competitor with whom we spent several hours and who gave us the slip in a more difficult section. It's also a chance to catch up with friends from the previous day or from previous long-distance races. The Reboost Stations are 7 safety points along the route, where, thanks to the lovely volunteers, the human warmth greatly outweighs the feeling of fatigue and the boo-boos accumulated so far.

Ultimate 1000 - Day 1
After setting off from Le Châble at 15:00, participants began their journey with a rolling climb to Champex-Lac.
Back in Martigny, the ascent to the Col du Lein via the Col du Tronc and the Col des Planches was more demanding. The ramp (>14%) before entering Chemin-Dessous was certainly a good warm-up for the most courageous; for the majority, it was a first glimpse of what they'll find on the rest of the route.
Arriving at dusk in the Chablais region, the leading group enjoyed the Fête Nationale procession in Champéry. As far as we could tell, none of the participants stopped to grill a saveloy or fill their cans with a local specialty. The zig-zags on the roads were indeed due to the slope.
At the first Reboost Station in Aigle, too, different strategies were observed. The prize goes to Oliver and a break of 15 seconds and 28 hundredths. Just enough time to eat a cookie before setting off for the Col de la Croix.
This morning, after the Col de la Pierre Moëllé and the Mittelberg, it was Ralph "Dizzy" Diseviscourt who arrived first at the second Reboost Station. A glass of soda, a refill of pockets and off to Lake Thun. Before that, a "little bump" of 10km at an average of 10%. From the memory of a community manager, Nathalie Baillon found it hard.

Who knows, maybe Nino Alaphilippe's main rival in the 2041 Tour de France will have found his calling on the Verbier course.

Superfondo
The newcomer to the 2023 program. It's the ideal course for Marmotte Granfondo participants from previous years who want to move gradually towards the Ultrafondo.
Of course, with a new course comes a new record. So who will be the holders of the best times in each category? 🤔
